jbravo in Programando... writes that it is difficult for a Spanish speaking programmer to learn about programming as most of the important texts are in English. There are however some very useful resources written in Spanish and one of the more prolific writers is Juan Antonio Palos who has written about Java ( Java en Castellano ). There are some 90 articles here that have been visited 7 million times according to the web site statistics. Juan Palacio in Navegapolis reports on an experiment on viral marketing. A company called Contagious Media has taken advantage of the Bored at Work Network (BWN) to launch announcements of products and to follow the news of these announcements in the blogoshpere. Their latest experiment is forget-me-not panties, pants with built-in GPS and bioletric sensors that can send data to a local PC device. The performance of these experiments is published in this table. Jaime Irurzun in código escrito comments on two items in the world of xBase. The first is the setting up of xHDN, the xHarbour Developer Network, a knowledge base for all the xHarbour developers with information and documentation about functions, classes etc. The second is the agreement between Xailer and Abox. Xailer is the "ultimate development environment for xBase" and Abox is a major Spanish software distributor. Javier Gutiérrez Chamorro (Guti) in Bitácora de Guti shows an example of self-modifying code in PHP in the form of a hit counter. As of version 4, PHP is not executed line by line, but read into memory and executed. It is hard to modify the program in memory. However, it is possible to alter the source code so that each time it is executed it changes itself. His example of a hit counter performs this trick. The code is available in the article. |
